A letter to Granny

Pic courtesy: Here

Grandparents are the root of every family. They hold the family together in a single thread. I've not seen my grant parents at all. But, I've always imagined things related to them by hearing many stories from my papa. They left my papa, when he was in high school. The last days of my granny was quite painful for her as she was suffering from paralysis. If they were present, how much pampered would I've become. I had written a letter many years ago for my granny. I want to share it today for the #LoveJatao contest.

Dear Granny,

Happy grandparents day. Big thanks to you for taking care of my papa. I heard you loved to cook traditional dishes. Your dishes were quite famous in whole village. If you were here, then we could’ve been making traditional with western fusion dishes. I heard from many that I’m a replica of you. We’ve the same smile apart from the dimples and same complexion. But, do I look like you?

If you were here with us, then my bed time could’ve been the story time. I would’ve waited for your stories before a good night sleep. I would’ve been getting hot oil massage for my hair from you. You would’ve been telling me the childhood memories of papa. I also heard you were a movie freak at that time and a great fan of Dillip Kumar; we would’ve been watching his movies together.

You had missed seeing my birth, my first word, my first walk, my first day in school, my first award, my first day in college, my board results, my graduation day, my first campus choice, my first salary and many more things.

I’ve heard from my friends that their grandparents are pampering them to high extend. I feel jealous of them. Why did you’ve to leave early from this world, I’ve this one grudge against you. We could’ve spent some valuable time together. We could’ve clicked some selfies together. I could’ve introduced you to all my friends. I miss you a lot. And, I want to tell you that you’re the most beautiful woman in our family.

Yours Granddaughter,
Who misses you every day.

Happy Grandparents day to all of you. Hope this day you’ll spend some valuable time with your grandparents; going back to the memory lane or chit chatting for hours or watching movies together or making their favorite dishes. I wish, I could do it all.

I look forward to hear from you how would you celebrate Grandparents Day. Do share a selfie with your grandparents on Sept. 10, 2017 on Twitter or Facebook with #LoveJatao & tag @blogadda to win a goodie from Parachute Advansed.

KEY TO MY SOUL : Book Review

Book Blurb :

"When Siddharth, a lonely young man with a failed marriage gets a sudden phone-call from a mysterious person about his lost childhood lover, Hazel, and learns that she is battling for life, he is shaken to the core. He also learns that she had left certain letters for him fifteen years back that never reached him. It disturbs him so much that he rushes to the hospital in his old hometown. There he discovers an eclipsed past buried in time that is riddled with dangerous surprises, trauma, twists of fate, sacrifices that exemplify true love and the real reasons for the tragic end of their childhood love story. But will Hazel ever open her eyes to see him..."

My Review :

'Key to My Soul'  is a fusion of love, heart break, friendship, betrayal, partition, understanding one's mistake and getting over the past for a revive future. The story begins with Siddharth, the male protagonist getting physical assault and goes back to flash backs of his childhood sweetheart.

The author has mastered in developing all the characters. I found different shades of the protagonists. Apart from protagonists, each characters have their own plot and matters to handle.

Things I liked!!!

  • 'Key To My Soul' is definitely a page turner. The book will demand your unrequited attention. The language is simple and the intrigue part has added flavors to the story.

Things Could have been better!!!

  • The pace of the flashback could have been better. Some incidents could have been avoided also.

I will give it 4 out of 5 stars for the poem in the end, which melted my heart and touched my soul. I'll recommend it to all romance genre lovers.

About The Author :

LETTERS TO PAST (#5)

Dear B Bhai,

I hope things are going good for you. You've already found the right path towards your career. I'm really sorry for being late to write this letter. But, no more complains as I wrote it already in my diary.

Well, my first impression of you was quite normal. I thought, you're a person with normal lifestyle and you don't talk much with people apart from your friend circle. That impression changed when I moved near your cubicle and became your cube-mate. I really admire your jolly personality and appreciate your patience, which you had after going through such a difficult phase.

I'll really miss our fun-fights, your lollipop acting and your all mimicries. When you'll return to us as a manager, please don't forget to shower us good ratings. :P We'll definitely bribe you chicken lollipop. Lastly, our team will miss you and hope to see you on your marriage. :P

From,

your cube-mate, who'll bribe you chicken lollipop in future. :P

CONVERTING OLD MEN'S SHIRT INTO OFF SHOULDER TOP (#DIY)

Hello All,

I'm here once again with another DIY project. This weekend I was organizing the rejected clothes, while a particular shirt caught my eye. I thought let's do something from that. So.... I converted my papa's old Shirt to my off shoulder top.

Below are the steps for making it. Hope you enjoy it and share your thoughts on the comment section.

Materials you'll be needing:

  • An old men's shirt (larger is better. Here, I've taken the Large size)
  • Scissors
  • Tailoring chalk
  • Elastic band
  • Sewing machine
  • Measuring tape

Materials you'll be needing

Steps for making :

  • Hold the shoulders of the shirt and fold it in half and also fold the sleeves as shown in below picture. Most importantly, make sure to leave at least one or two inches distance from the armhole.

  • Mark a straight line using tailoring chalk as shown in the below picture. I've taken 5 inch distance from the shoulder.

  • Cut he marked straight line using scissor. Take out the button near cut area, if any present. When you'll open the shirt, it'll make some angle around the sleeve area.You need to cut that part in a straight line also.

  • Now, you've to make a fold and secure it with pins or you can directly stitch also. The fold should be the combination of a small  fold and rotate that small fold to make a big fold so that the elastic can be inserted easily. I've used a sewing machine to stitch. But, you can sew it  by hand also.

Mama helped me little in sewing  the arm area  :D

  • Take the measuring tape and measure the shoulder around, which was 38 Inch in my case. So, we'll take the length of the elastic as 30 Inch. Take a safety pin and insert the elastic into the hole which we made from the stitching.

  • After inserting the elastic, stitch the two ends of the elastic. Adjust the material as per your convenience. Now, your off shoulder top is ready. I've styled it with a belt. You can wear it without any belt also.

My final look

LETTERS TO PAST (#4)

"Once app-mates, will become strangers with some memories... "

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear AP,
I wish you luck for your future. May GOD shower you all the happiness you deserve and may you taste the flavor of success in your career line. I always wanted to write a letter for you. Now, I got a chance. Don’t worry this is not a complain letter.
My first impression of you was not so high, I smiled at you and you simply ignored me... Yes, and after that I thought you’re full of attitudes. That impression vanished slowly in our first team party. I’ve always said this that you’re efficient in your work but little lack in social skills. So as usual I made the effort for building our friendship. Here, we’re good friends now (I guess!!!)
You inspired me to go in the path of my dreams and take risks. But, I’m not as courageous as you. I know, it’ll take some time for me to be a rebel. I wanted to say you this from last three months. ‘Lucky are those people, who follow their passion. So you’re lucky’ People always leave some imprint on my mind, you've also left some.
You’re one of my favorite mentors and you’ll be. Our team will miss you for sure. Please stay in contact and don’t keep grudges for any of my activities. (:P)
Lastly, study well and Farewell my moody friend...
From,
An app-mate, who will become stranger...
