Book Blurb :
Set in the backdrop of 1990 Calcutta, She is a story about finding one’s own identity in spite of all odds. The story spins around the life of Kusum, a brave heart whose identity is often untitled and blurred; it does not belong anywhere, definitely not under the ‘he’ or ‘she’ bracket, thanks to our social conditioning. Will she be successful in her mission? Find out in She, an utterly absorbing read that derives inspiration from Tagore’s “Ekla Cholo Re” song, which urges everyone to move on despite the fear of abandonment from others.
"She is one of the finest book to read" - Sujeeth Kumar, Project Manager, MNC Bengaluru
"A story often untold. Appreciate the team for presenting She in the best possible harmonious way!" - N K Narasimhan, CEO and Co-Founder, Nascor Technologies, Bengaluru
"Don't miss the ending!" - Raghunath Babu Are, Employee at Microsoft, Bengaluru
My Review :
We live in a society and bound by some rules; male should
behave manly and female should be gentle. Sometimes we show empathy to those
persons, who stuck in between male and female- a boy trapped in a woman’s body
and vice versa. But, we fail to accept the fact when we see such incident
within our household. We try to cover up. Kusum’s father, an aggressive doctor
failed to accept the real identity of his child. He tried to cover that up but,
Kusum is a brave heart person. She cleared all the obstacles and marched
towards a path all alone.
‘She’ is a story of searching one’s identity, which is often
untitled. It is a quick read as the novel is short. The plot is strong and the
story moves further in fast pace. The author has kept the story simple yet prominent.
The author has taken a topic and wrote the story amazingly, though the complete
solution is not given in this book. I loved the poem by Rabindranath Tagore
‘Ekla Chalo re’. The ending of the story
is also memorable.
I’ll give it 5 out of 5 stars for its magnificent
story-line. This book is highly recommended to all.
