MY DIARY (#3)

Image from google

Dear Blog,

One day my mama had stood on the corner of the kitchen room with a weird expression, deep in thoughts. I observed her for sometimes then broke the silence between us “anything happened mama?” “No, nothing” she nodded her head and proceed to make salad. I was not convinced at her answer, so I asked further “Why are you so dull today? Someone has told you something?” But I got same response as previous.

That evening she came to me with a troubled face “acha beta, tell me honestly am I getting fatter na?” I was stunned at her question. Was it bothering her so much back then? “Yes mama, you are fat and you are gaining more weight because of thyroid also.” I completed my sentence with a cute smile. But my cuteness didn’t affect her.

After that conversation I noticed she was doing some yoga, exercises and eating banana for several days until her body started to ache all over. That time I thought it was funny, how could she take it so seriously? Sometimes I tried to convince her to drop these entire yoga things but she always said me that I can’t understand it as I’m not fat like her.

Thank god finally she dropped all these activity. But now she is forcing me to eat more!!! Sometimes she throws her tantrum on me about eating more n more veggies. These days whenever she meets someone she doesn’t forget to advice that person about how important food is for us. So tell me blog what can I do for her? Her activities are still funny for me.

MY FUNNY EXPERIENCE

Image from google

A funny thing happened on my way to home from college.

Rain was about to show its hungriness. After the hectic college schedule I was rushing to my home with holding an umbrella. After some distance of walking I heard a footstep behind me. I ignored it at first but a thought came to my mind “may be someone is following me.” It’s a say that once negativity comes to your mind, it’s hard to turn your back on it.

I relaxed myself and increase my speed of walking but the person also increased his speed. My heart started to pound rapidly. I started to run but only to found his footstep matching mine.

Suddenly I stopped in the middle of the road and bashed the edge of my umbrella on the stomach of the anonymous person. “Ouch...” he cried. At that time I felt Kiran Bedi mounted in me.

“Miss, your purse....you dropped it near the college gate.” He uttered in pain holding his stomach and slowly handed me the purse. “Han...my purse, ohh thanks.” Calmness rose in my face. “But you already thanked me with your umbrella” he said with a weird expression.

Embarrassment slammed in my face. “Um...sorry....and....thank you for the purse.” I whispered at once, took a half turn and started to rush towards my home.

This is a true story, happened when I was in 12th standard and that was the most awkward moment for me.

This post is my attempt for “write over the weekend” by Blogadda.

THE SILENT BOY: a 100 word fiction (#2)

Image from google

I was standing near the gate of my sister’s school when someone patted my hand. I turned to see a small boy standing near holding a paper made flower in his hand. He presented a charming smile and handed me that flower.

“For me, thank you.” I smiled.

“You made it? Beautiful! What’s your name Kiddo?”  No reply.

“I’m Arpita and you are?” still silent response. I assumed that he didn’t want to talk.

When I was about to leave, he showed me in sign language that neither he can hear nor talk. He left that place making me wide eyed.

HEART BEAT: a 100 word story (#1)

Image from google

The little girl stood near the window, deep in her thoughts, when the sound of cough made her rushed towards the bedroom. “Dad, you okay? Need anything?” she asked with a worried expression. “Sit with me.” he requested.

“Dad...um...are you going to die?” she hesitated.

 “Who told you that?”

“I eavesdropped accidentally.” She uttered in agony expression. He gently whispered “Remember beta, I love you.”

She came next to him; placed her hand around his shoulder, her head on his chest. Then she heard the sound of his heart beat.  The next day he died leaving his little girl alone...

Here’s my first attempt to write a hundred word story. Hope you like it....

LOVE FOR ETERNITY

Image from google

I grabbed a coffee and started moving forward to the book shop, my favorite place where I spend my quality time. “I need to relax,” I was convincing myself as my blind date went pretty bad. This happens every time; my parents arrange blind dates for match-making purpose but every time I disappoint them.

I was completely preoccupied by my thoughts when someone’s ‘hi’ brought me back to the reality. I observed he was staring at me. “Do I know you?” I asked out of curiosity. “Not necessarily, but can you tell me where is Cyrano’s bookshop?”He snapped. “Hmm....I’m going there, you can come with me. Are you new here because I never saw you in that book store?” I asked another one question. “Ya, I’m new in this place. By the way I’m Subham.” I replied with a smile “I’m Megha, nice to meet you”. We shake hands firmly.

After 10 minutes of more walking, we finally reached at the bookshop. There we parted our ways; I walked towards the fantasy section and he went to the literature section. I leaned by the shelf to have a proper look of him. He was tall, muscular and quite handsome. Then I returned my focus on books.

I loved to live in a fairy tale and a world full of fantasies. I believed that vampires, werewolves, and witches existed, and even Harry Potter. And my list of paranormal creatures which co-exist with us goes on.

I selected my book and again met him on bill counter. “So what did you pick?” I enquired. “The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne,” he hushed, “hey, what are you doing after this? If you have nothing special to do, then have a coffee with me?” He offered with an innocent look. “Hmm,” I responded.

Within minutes we had silently made our exit from the bookshop and headed towards the cafe. For the next two hours we talked about our schooling, likes, dislikes, families and point of views on some topics. I realized that we have a plenty in common like we both love to read, cappuccino is our favorite drink and horror is our favorite genre in movie, we were the toppers of our corresponding classes and we share a mutual respect. I realized that I like him. So we both agreed on meeting in future and exchanged our contact numbers.

Image from google

That coffee shop turned our regular meeting place. It’s hard to determine the exact moment when I started falling for Subham. I send him minimum twenty messages per day; starting from Good morning to Good night to my where abouts. Every day seemed beautiful and we started to explore different places in Kolkata.

One Saturday we met at the Howrah Bridge. That day he seemed serious so I asked, “What happened?” His gaze rested on me for a brief minute. “Do you believe in me?” His question made me assertive. “Hmm....More than you know.” I also matched my gaze with him. “I’m going now. Do you want to follow me?” He said urgently. “I will follow you to the eternity,” my soul whispered. He slipped his hand in mine and we started to move forward to the edge of the Bridge. Together we jumped off the Bridge.

________________________________________________________________

The reporters were asking millions of questions to the police. “Why did she commit suicide?”, “Is this a suicide or homicide?”, “Can you tell us more about it?”, “How does it impact on her family?” The questions were retorted from the reporters. The police finally confirmed that senior physician Dr. P.K. Basu will answer all the questions.

Dr Basu drank a sip of water placed in front of him and started “Megha Ghose was my patient for more than one year. One n half years ago she lost a guy named Subham Banergee in an accident with who she was madly in love. After that dreadful incident she was in severe depression for nine months and that has led her to visual hallucinations. We traced her mobile she was sending messages to a blocked number. We enquired the owner of a coffee shop where she came frequently, ordered two cappuccinos and started talking with no one. All these incidents indicate that it wasn’t a murder rather a suicide.”

The reporters left the place and the police thanked Dr Basu for calming the reporters.

THE DICTATION OF DESTINY

Author-: Rukhshan Ur Rahman
Price-: 250/-
Pages-: 384

BOOK BLURB-:

Ayaan never knew what his tryst with life would give him. It gave him a dainty damsel Simran, with whom he shares his heart. Sooner turmoil breaks in. A contrast between them plays the evil. They have a truth to fight when they later meet. Their fight is a mere dictation which destiny voices in their lives.

The Dictation of Destiny is beyond love, poetry, romance and addictions. It’s a part of one’s unsaid heart.

My Review-:

One of my friend suggested this book to me as the author is from her college. So I grabbed this book with my coffee and started reading it. I can’t say it’s a quick read but still I hardly take this away from me.

To start with what attracted me towards this book were its cover and the unique yet simple name of the novel. This book has that potential to take you to the eternity of love. This book defines perfectly the definition of love, religion barrier, destiny and the consequences of turmoil. The plot has a backdrop of Odisha and the story is about their love which fall test to everything.

The characters are pretty strong; the male protagonist Ayan is a sober and caring personality, who can wait for his love and deeply believe in commitment. You have to complete the book to understand the female protagonist simran. I liked akruti (Ayan’s close friend) though her parts were little.

Rukhshan Ur Rahman is a promising author. He writes this book in a poetic manner and after each chapter he provides a poem. The last two chapters are my favourite. Some of his lines that win my heart

"For the moment I smiled and looked for her,                                                      but she was gone, lost in the allusion of a deserted flight,                                   I cried, I screamed, I squalled out loud,                                                            But nothing of her being was traced nor found.                                               She infringed my feelings and poisoned my love;                                               She shattered my beats with the curse of lone."

I have to be honest with my review; there are some things which I don’t like. First the length of the book should be little less. Second the story is dragged a little in the middle portion so may be some reader lost their interest. If the above cases would be taken care then it would be a much better book.

This book is about a contemplating love story, mesmerizing path, astonishing characters and some inspiration from day today life. I will recommend this book to those who are believer of love and to those who believe in mushy love.
I will give 3 out of 5 stars.

STORY LINE-:

When Kavya Pratap Singh, a chirpy, yet feisty girl from Ambala, decides to make a trip to Delhi for her marriage shopping, she meets a young, Delhi lad, Humpty Sharma. Humpty's father is the owner of a campus bookstore, where Humpty and his two best friends, Shonty and Poplu, have grown up together and which their hangout spot remains even now. Kavya is unattainable for Humpty initially, which makes her even more endearing to him. But being a Delhi boy, he is not the one to give up so easily. With some help from his two best friends, he finds out all about her and through an interesting turn of events (including a ploy to save Kavya's friend Gurpreet's marriage), they start growing closer to each other.

The more time they spend with each other, their love hate banter grows, but their chemistry is apparent. They are both different, yet very similar as people. They are young, feisty and carefree, and it’s the spurge of life which attracts them to each other.

That's the beginning of a journey for him that he wouldn't have imagined undertaking even in the wildest of his dreams. Humpty, against all odds, decides to convince Kavya's family to agree to his alliance with her. How he does this and if he succeeds in his mission forms the rest of the story.

MY REVIEW-:

July 17th was one of my close friends birthday, so we celebrated  her birthday and went to movie hall to watch “Humpty Sharma ki dulhania”.

“Humpty Sharma ki dulhania” is a modern adaptation of classic yet irony movie “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge”, where we can observe some more twist and turn in the second half and some generational shift. The charming chemistry between the main protagonists compels you towards the screen.

Except “Saturday Saturday”, “samjhawan” and “Lucky tu lucky me” all the other songs could not shed a spell on us.

All the characters are well portrayed. Varun Dhawan was amazing throughout the movie with an eccentric display of typical chichora mannerisms; Varun casts a spell in his performance and managed to steal the show by his performance. Another amusing highlight of the movie is Ashutosh Rana, who plays Kavya’s father was grave and serious in this movie; his protective daddy act in the film is refreshing and is balanced by him with an appropriate amount of intensity and humour.

Alia Bhatt was the bubbly and free spirited ambala girl in this movie. She is full of energy and surprises, but some of her dialogs were seemed rushed. Siddharth Shukla the Balika Badhu man was sharing a little screen. It would be fun to watch him more in this movie.

If you are a stick-in-the-mud DDLJ fan and wish to see the love story with a stroke of modernity and punch added to it, then watch Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. I will give it 3.5 stars out of 5 stars.

MY DIARY (#2)

Dear Blog,

My hands were shaking and I was shivering. I was too afraid to face the reality that slam in my face. I did not know if anybody was saying something to me or not. At that moment I wanted to release my agony by screaming, yelling and crying, but my emotions was too mixed up that I desperately wished to run from the horror that engulfed me.

The news of my maternal grandmother's death had broken me apart. I looked around my surrounding; some were weeping, some were giving grief expression, some were saying hushed words. My eyes searched for my mama and she was there screaming loudly in pain. I decided to sit alone and stared at blank without winking my eyes. The truth was hard on me.

Memories started to play in my mind; some were diminishing and some were vivid. Her bed time stories, her hand made dishes, her smiling face I remembered it all.

I ran to the bathroom to look my mirror image. For the first time I was realizing the feeling of “something dearest lost”. I wanted to sob, but could not. I wanted to scream, but my voice was not finding its way out. I gave a bitter laugh to myself. I was scared, frightened because if I broke down nobody can console me. “I’m strong” I convinced myself.

My papa ordered me to get grandma’s stuffs from hospital. So I went to the room no 307 third floor, where my grandma was admitted before shifted to ICU. I saw her bag lay in the corner of the room. I tiptoed towards the bag, unbuttoned its chain and found four sets of clothes, a glass, a purse, a ring and ...a letter. The letter was addressed to me. I started to read

Dear Liku,

How are you? How’s your study going on? Why did not you come here during durga puja? So did you like the teddy bear? Sorry I keep asking you questions. Don’t stress too much for studies and please eat some vegetables because the last time I saw, you have lost so much weight.
Waiting for your reply

From                                                      yours aai

Hugging that letter I cried and cried my heart out sitting in that corner of the room. Of course I loved that teddy bear I said myself. I didn't want anybody to find me. I wanted to spend some time alone which I was not allowed in that situation. I left from the hospital holding that letter.

Two n half years have passed I still cannot believe that my maternal grandmother is no more and I remember that day as the longest day of my life. Somehow I buried my emotions under deep inside me and I wanted to release that, so I share it with you (blog).
A message for my grandma, “I miss you so much grandma”.

                                                                                           See you again blog....

THE TRUTH OF LIFE

The scenery seemed to pass slowly as we moved forward. My coffee was getting cold, so I drank all of it in a single sip. The train leaned slightly on the tracks and voices from the stations echoed in three different languages, making me annoyed. For the first time since taking my seat I had become aware of the conversations around me; phrases by elder ones, hushed words uttered by a group and silent words by the newlywed couple. The anxiety started and made me rub my chin. I was thankful as a discarded newspaper was lying on the seat opposite me. It took me two more minutes to decide whether to pick that paper or to leave it as it was. Finally I grabbed it and began reading, as passing time was always easier when I had something to read. I eventually came to a small article on fourth page. I paused, reread it and something was stuck in my mind.

The article was written in simple, matter of fact manner, with a bold heading Accident blew the family. It said- a young couple with a two year old child were returning from a party, their car pulled up outside their home. Mother and son got out of the car and went inside as father had to park the car. He got into the car and started reverse driving; the child came back through the front door and toddled towards the car. Father reversed without seeing, tragedy happened.  Mother could not stand up to the loss of her son and committed suicide. Below that article was a photo, three figures standing closely and smiling brightly, I could not recognize myself in that image.

Tears found their way from my eyes. I couldn't help it. Everything flashed in my memory like reels of picture and I closed my eyes for a moment. The image of a family photograph taken by a stranger the year before appeared in my mind, never fading or dissolving. Three figures standing closely, smiling brightly, and that brightness reached their eyes. Those captured moments were the happiest ones of my life. That incident changed everything and I still felt the guilt for the sin that I had committed.

I started to shiver as the truth was difficult to shallow and again I observed my surrounding briefly, they were busy in their own world. I took the old photo out of my shirt pocket and stared at it, that smile was no more on my face. A dull sun brightened the compartment. Putting the photo again in my pocket, I looked out of the window and thought life was full of surprises-in one moment it can take you to the height of eternity and then the next it can shatter you.

“Don’t turn your face away.

Once you’ve seen, you can no longer act like you don’t know.
Open your eyes to the truth. It’s all around you.
Don’t deny what the eyes to your soul have revealed to you.”

EK VILLAIN

Story Line-:

Ek Villain movie is based on the character Guru who is quiet, tough and ruthless boy, working for a politician, Prahlad. A dark past refuses to let Guru sleep at night until he meets a girl, Aisha. He falls in love with her, his life changes and he convinces Aisha to get married to him. Guru even quits his job and moves from Goa to Mumbai to make a new beginning with Aisha. Just when things seem perfect, she falls prey to an attack. ADVERTISEMENT Devastated, Guru starts hunting the miscreant and is shocked to learn of his seemingly innocuous and simple identity. Something is amiss and Guru is unable to place a finger on the precise problem. Who is the real assailant? Does Guru succeed in getting even with the assailant? And what is the motive behind her killing? The plot thickens as the astonishing mystery unveils and new realizations come to the forefront.

My Review-:

I had waited long for this movie and hoped to see it in cinema hall, but that failed due to my busy schedule. So I watched it today in my laptop and after that a broad smile was there on my face.

Mohit Suri’s romance thriller is doing amazing on box-office. The first reason behind it is the attention grabbing trailers and the astonishing music generated hype for this movie, second reason is the mesmerizing acting and third reason is the time reverse narration that was too perfectly and beautifully.

Ankit Tiwari has blessed this movie with stupendous songs like “Galliyan”, “Banjaara”, “zaroorat”, “ Awari ”,“ Hamdard” each of the tracks is affecting and will leave an imprint in your mind.

Guru, a hardy, merciless character played by Sidharth Malhotra is a surprising revelation in this movie as you can see so much understanding in his eyes. He handles lot of complicated situation effortlessly and portrays himself as an angry young man. He proved himself as a promising actor and ready to take risk in near future.

Aisha, a fun-loving, cute and spiritual girl played by Sradha Kapoor performs in another movie which can increase her fan followings. She is natural and put enthusiasm in her performance. Her cute-yet-silly jokes sometimes makes you smile. This time Sradha’s character is quite different than Ashique 2 which she portrays skilfully.

Rakesh played by Ritesh Deshmukh delivers his role efficiently. I have always seen him playing a comic role but this time he portrays himself as a sadist and intense character that has the grey sides as well as deep dark sides, which counts as a plus point in his carrier. The supporting casts have done an appropriate job.

Recently I read in an article that this movie is similar to a Korean movie I SAW THE DEVIL [2010], since I haven’t seen the Korean one so it’s fine for me. There are some facts like the female protagonist’s fatal disease, remained unexplained throughout the movie and the thriller part was a little less as the scene can be predicted before it happens.

This movie is a whole package of heart warming characters, stunning music, promising screenplay and unique narration style which will capture you and compel you towards itself so I would recommend it to all. My rating is 4 out of 5 as it is a gifted movie and it will soon reach its mile stone at 100 crores club.

Thank you for stopping by, I read each and every comment. So please leave a comment to improve me.

2 STATES 2014 MOVIE

Initial release-: April 17, 2014
Director-: Abhishek Verma
Running time-: 149 minutes
Adapted from-: 2 states: the story of my marriage

STORY LINE-:

This is a story about a romantic journey of a culturally opposite couple - Krish Malhotra and Ananya Swaminathan. They meet at the IIM-Ahmedabad College and during the program they fall in love. Complications arise after the program comes to an end and they decide to get married. Krish and Ananya belong to two different states of India; Krish, a North Indian Punjabi boy from Delhi, Ananya, a Tamilian Brahmin from Chennai. They take a conscious decision; they won't get married until their parents agree. Everything goes downhill when the parents meet. There is a cultural clash and the parents oppose the wedding. To convert their love story into a love marriage, the couple faces a tough battle in front of them. It is easy to fight and rebel, but much harder to convince. Will Krish and Ananya's love for each other sustain the battles? Will they manage to convince their parents and make it to their wedding?

My Review-:

I went to watch the movie with my friend. After watching it I had decided to write a review but due to my exam that plan delayed. Abhishek Verma’s 2 states is the novel adaption of chetan bhagat’s semi autobiography. This movie concerns about the north-south division and the cultural barrier arises between two families of main protagonists.

This movie justify the phrase that, in India you don’t just marry the boy or girl, you marry the entire family. It also does proper justice to Chetan Bhagat’s work.

Krish Malhotra (played by Arjun Kapoor) is a confident, afraid to grown up man; once he is attached to someone he does his best to protect the special one. I fall for Ajun in this movie due to his cute dance steps (Lochha-e-ulffat), his appearance as Punjabi with spectacle and his immature character which was childish at first (remember when he freaks out after seeing ananya in shorts and the confession of his feelings).

Ananya  Swaminathan (Alia Bhatt) is a fresh, carefree and lovable south Indian Brahmin girl. Alia steal the show from Arjun by her performance, she is natural throughout the movie. I didn’t realize when did she grown up and put sparkles in her performance, she exactly know when to and how much have to implement emotion in the right time.

Ronit Roy (who play Krish’s father), a perfect antagonist enters to the scene with full force and the troubled relationship between father and son is portrayed beautifully. Amrita singh (who plays Krish’s mother) is a typical Punjabi mother, who always cracks a joke on expenses and never let go a chance to humiliate the south Indian.

The romance between the main protagonists is amazing and the romance flows smoothly in a roller coaster path, sometimes up and sometimes down. But those who have already read the novel may not be find this movie convincing.

It is a simple story but well said and the moral of the movie is “it’s easy to flee or elope but it takes a lot of effort to convince.” So i can give 4 out of 5 stars to this movie for incredible narration, miraculous screen play and extraordinary performance by the cast.

CAN LOVE HAPPEN TWICE

This highly anticipated sequel by Ravinder Singh is an emotional roller-coaster that bravely explores the highs and lows of love.

When Ravin first said ‘I love you . . .’ he meant it forever. The world has known this through Ravin’s bestselling novel, I Too Had a Love Story. But did Ravin’s story really end on the last page of that book?

On Valentine’s Day, a radio station in Chandigarh hosts a very special romantic chat show. Ravin and his three best friends are invited as guests to talk about Ravin’s love story. But surprisingly everyone apart from Ravin turns up. As the show goes live, there is only one question in every listener’s mind: what has happened to Ravin?

To answer this question the three friends begin reading from a handwritten copy of Ravin’s incomplete second book—the entire city listens breathlessly, unable to believe the revelations that follow.

My Review-:

I had read “I too had a love story” (the prequel of this novel) and felt the dept, emotion of author. So the very next month I ordered this novel from flipkart, completed reading this novel within one day and here are some points good as well as bad.

Ã¨    The starting or plot of the story was quite likable and this time he starts it in a different style.

Ã¨ After reading two books of him I think Ravin is caring type, which is the most adorable part but from the beginning I didn't like the female protagonist (simar) due to her pampering nature.

Ã¨ This novel indulges the essence of present day love and the concept went down bellow my expectation level but still I cried as I mentioned about my special attachment towards tragic romance books.

Ã¨  After reading few chapters of the story, I was wondering how come he forgets Khushi so easily and fall in love with Simar, which feels a little unnatural.

Ã¨ And the most confusing thing after so many negative critics, how come this novel has average of 3.35 out of 5 rating in goodreads. So he has still so many fan and followers.

Can love happen twice is the second novel of Ravinder singh, his debut novel made him the heart of millions. Here i think that the author may be wrote it forcefully because he has to. So the soul is missing in this book and so is his talent.

I will recommend this book to those who really want to know what happen to Ravin after that disaster and to those who are crazy about his whereabouts.

Nevertheless Ravindar singh is still one of my favourite authors and I am looking forward to his upcoming novels. I had bought “love stories that touched my heart” edited by him and these days I’m reading that, will soon give my review.

Thank you for stopping by, i read each and every comment. So leave a comment to improve me.
