A HEART"S OBSESSION: Book review

Book Blurb-:

Can a woman held captive by her family make it back to the one man she knows she can trust?

When Sarah Montgomery's father succumbs to his long illness, Sarah is faced with a life-altering choice: submit to her brother's will and marry the deceptive Ben Croftner . . . or escape through the dangerous American West to reclaim the heart of her beloved Rand Campbell at Fort Laramie, Wyoming.

From captivity in her family's home, Sarah makes her decision--and begins the perilous journey to Wyoming by train.

But even in the company of Rand's brother, Sarah does not receive the reception she had hoped for. The necessity of a military wife has preempted her, and Rand is already engaged to Jessica DuBois, the seductive daughter of the post commander. With her heart broken and her life in ruins, Sarah has no choice but to remain at Fort Laramie and try to win Rand back. But things will get tougher before they get easier . . . the obsessive Ben Croftner has just shown up in Wyoming.

My thought-:

This is the second installment of the 'journey of heart' series. In this book I felt sad for Sarah. She lost Rand once and then found him again, only to watch him leave her without a thought. Her Dad succumbed to illness and expressed his last wish for Sarah to fight for Rand. She went towards Rand only to find him engaged with Jessica DuBois. She was heartbroken and lonely. I got emotionally attached with Sarah.

I’m falling for this 'the journey of heart ' series; I always love 'parting and meeting' tales and this is one of such kind. The story as well as the characters seem real. The cover of the book is elegant and rich in design. I understand Sarah’s character, but I’m yet to understand Rand. I’m hoping to get acquainted with Rand in the coming series.

Colleen Coble is a promising author. I love her writing style and waiting read more from her. I’ll give it 4 out of 5 stars for the story and writing style of the author. I’ll definitely recommend it to those, who love contemporary romance genre with a little melodrama.

ZEST FOR NEW START (#AtoZChallenge)

[My theme is 'My College Diary', where I'll be posting fictions inspired from my life. This will be a serial story. So here is my story...]

Read my previous post here.

My journey didn't end here, rather it has started. My college life gave me new friends, taught me new lessons and made me mature enough to handle any situation.

I learned oneness; we all have different assignment copies, but answers are same. I learned leadership; joining hands with others during the strike and cooperate them. I learned how to bunk classes. I learned how to attract teacher's attention; by gossiping and laughing during class. Well, I learned a lot more. If I'll make a list, then it'll take some days to finish.

Now, I'm counting down my days to join 'I'. My offer letter has already arrived and my joining date is fixed on this May. I won't be able to continue my blogging after joining that company, but I won't give up. A new zest has been added to my life after my college life. The zest for starting a new life in the corporate sector.
.

What are your memorable moments in your college life? What are the perks of being in college?
Waiting for your reply.

FROM WHERE I SEE :Book review

My Thoughts:

After a long duration Ajay meets his childhood best friend Shruti on a social site; they were the inseparable ones during their childhood times, but in the course of time they had part. Ajay found out Shruti’s name had changed after her marriage with Aslam. She is struggling with social and religious conflicts. One day Ajay gets a call from Aslam, hearing about Shruti’s suicide he becomes stunned. Did she commit suicide or did something kill her. As the story unfolds slowly the reader will get an idea to the above question.

The book starts with police inquiring about Shruti’s death from Ajay. The first chapter is about the series of questions and answers between the inspector and Ajay. I didn’t like the first chapter but my impression changed with respect to time. Then the story moves in a parallel motion; some pieces of interconnected past and the present. The story eventually explores romance, mystery, thriller, philosophy and religion.

After finishing this book my point of view on certain things has changed. As the author already mentioned that it’s not only a book; it’s the path to a revolution, it’s a journey towards a Utopian world. Some of the lines, I really liked from the book.

‘When we want to be the first at every place in life, even on a traffic signal, then why last at honesty?’

‘The friendship is not about thinking of your loss, it is about thinking of your friend’s benefit.’

‘If any social or religious dogma harms any human mentally, physically, emotionally and financially then it is the matter of shame not pride.’

‘For ardent believers however much they may consciously try it’s difficult to remain unbiased.’

The characters are well plotted; Ajay an Anesthetist by profession and an open minded person, his point of view towards the society is broad. He is a good friend and can’t tolerate his friend’s anger. Whereas Shruti the boldest girl in her village. She had once hit sarpanch’s son with a stone for his misbehavior.  She has her trauma and conflicts.

Ajay Yadav is a promising author. The author’s writing style is simple yet effective.  The readers won’t feel any difficulty in understanding the lines. Yet, I feel the narration should be a little better.

This book has some pros as well as some cons. This book has the capacity to strike the reader’s thought at certain point but it also fails to attract the reader at some chapters. The length could have been a little less. Sometimes I feel disconnected to the story due to the heavy amount thoughts, point of views and arguments about a topic.

I’ll give it 3 out of 5 stars for the utopian concept. I will recommend this book to them, who loves to read philosophical and utopian world.

About the author:

Dr. Ajay Yadav is a consultant Anesthetist, Intensivist and pain specialist. His textbook of anesthesia is most saleable textbook book for undergraduates in India, South East Asia and Africa. He is a rational, logical and analytical thinker. It had always been his dream to write a book which can honestly unfurl the other side of curtain.

WISH FOR MORE (#AtoZChallenge)

[My theme is 'My College Diary', where I'll be posting fictions inspired from my life. This will be a serial story. So here is my story...]

Read my previous post here.

There come to an end of my four years of epic college life. I'm appearing my last semester exam and after two more exams officially my college life will be over. Did I wish to study engineering? No, it was decided through a chit system. Did I wish to take ECE branch? No, it was also selected through a chit system.

I didn't wish for my terrible ragging. I didn't wish to get  'C' grade in a subject in every semester. I didn't wish the return of our killer lecturer. I didn't want to become a tragedy queen. But, it all happened. Now I wish for more days in college.

I wish to enjoy as much as possible with my friends. I wish to attend boring class. I wish to travel by bus to college with Muskan and Pakshy. I wish to gulp more 'Kebabs' and cola from Happiness station. I wish to laugh loudly at Anchal and Rosni's jokes. I wish to tease Lisa for her lipstick.

I wish for more...

VOID THOUGHTS (#AtoZChallenge)

[My theme is 'My College Diary', where I'll be posting fictions inspired from my life. This will be a serial story. So here is my story...]

Read my previous post here.

My 8th semester was the most enjoyable semester in my entire engineering life. Muskan finally got placed after so many tries. My most of the day passed, by writing code for project and watching korean series. I had also created my top 5 Korean series lists, but now I'm confused whom to keep in top 5 lists.

I remember the hugs when we meet Muskan after we all heard about her placement news. I remember my cry, when my project-guide scolded me and told me a lazy person. I remember our outings full of excitement. I remember my last birthday in college, where the whole class joined the celebration. I remember our plan for a surprise visit on Roni's B'day. I remember my increasing bunks during my semesters. I remember my hatred towards the mobile communication subject.

I think my void thoughts are filled with mesmerizing memories, those memories I never want to forget...

UNRAVELING MY STRESS (#AtoZChallenge)

[My theme is 'My College Diary', where I'll be posting fictions inspired from my life. This will be a serial story. So here is my story...]

Read my previous post here.

After one more trial Rosni placed in 'T' company. I was so happy for her, that I didn't care about the upcoming exam. Well, I don't want to discuss about exams. Muskan, Sarat and Raj  were left, who didn't get placed during our 7th semester.

Our minor project submission date was released and the toughest job was we didn't have that much idea about our project. But we managed that somehow. The most relaxing time was the holidays after our semester exam. I really needed that and I relaxed myself as much as possible. I noticed one thing that my interest in studies dropped.

I unraveled my stress in that holiday....

TEARS (#AtoZChallenge)

[My theme is 'My College Diary', where I'll be posting fictions inspired from my life. This will be a serial story. So here is my story...]

Read my previous post here.

All the students waited in the conference hall. Our placement officer arrived 30 more minutes later the scheduled time. He held the paper containing the name shortlisted student for 'W' company. He started to call names and I find Rosni and my name was not there. At first I didn't realize it and Rosni started crying. "Apy, we didn't get it." Rosni's sudden comment shoved me from that place. I was broken, I thought my interview with 'W' was good, but maybe my luck didn't favored.

I cried for one and half hour. Pakshy tried to soothe me but I was broken completely. I knew my interview in the company 'I' wasn't that great. But again, I calmed myself and went with others to hear the result of the company 'I'. Anchal had arrived at that time. Pakshy, Anchal and I sat in a row, Rosni went to sit  with her friend Sid. Soon our placement officer started to announce the name; after some minutes Pakshy poked me smilingly. "Apy, you got it." I recollected thoughts and a smile left from my mouth. Then came Pakshy's name and lastly came Anchal's name.

Rosni's name wasn't there. We were heartbroken to see her cries. She was crying continuously and we managed to send her home.

That day tears never stopped by...

STRUGGLE (#AtoZChallenge)

[My theme is 'My College Diary', where I'll be posting fictions inspired from my life. This will be a serial story. So here is my story...]

Read my previous post here

[Campus]

Day one was sharing two reputed companies; 'W' and 'I'. We all got ready before 8 am as we had got a mail from our college stating that 'W' is arriving at 9:30 am. We reached at 8:45 am in the college, but 'W' arrived at 11:45 am. After their ppt, we went for the written test and waited for the result. Those students, who got a career 75% were eligible for direct PI and Pakshy was one of them among my friend circle. The result came at around 7 pm in the evening. Rosni, Lisa, Sourav and I had cleared the test. Muskan and Anchal were crying for their loss in the battle. We tried to console them, but that didn't help. We then waited for our easy writing test. My interview was on the third day of his company's arrival.

Rosni and I had interview at a same time. Both she and I went to different panels. Her interview took place around 15 minutes while mine was around 20 minutes. We both were happy cause our interview went well. Then the company 'I' had arrived and the company had a compulsory written test for all.

We all appeared the written test and that time also Muskan, Raj and Sarat didn't clear the test. My interview was a stress interview. The interviewer insulted me and continuously stared me as if I was a piece of meat. After my interview I cried a lot thinking about the possibilities of my failure.

Finally the day arrived for which we all were waiting eagerly. The announcement of result...

For the first time I realized the struggle...

REVISION (#AtoZChallenge)

[My theme is 'My College Diary', where I'll be posting fictions inspired from my life. This will be a serial story. So here is my story...]

Read my previous post here

The 7th semester was the most hectic one; we had to attend our regular classes, pre-placement classes and manage our project. For the first time I became serious about my engineering life. Our project group division was done in the 6th semester. Each group consists of 4 members and Rosni was our group leader. Asish and Manab were the other two members of our group.

Well, I didn't expect anything from Asish and Manab but I thought Rosni will help me in coding. I became habituated to my group, but still I can say ours is the best group. We all heard equal scolding from our project guide. During that time the environment of our class was serious as campus date was getting nearer.

We all were preparing for campus; revising our old subjects, giving importance to aptitude and giving mock interviews and group discussions. During the revision I came to know that previously I neglected so many subjects. With each passing days our campus finally arrived. Day one was sharing two reputed companies, 'W' and 'I'.

Revision isn't easy always...

[P.s.- My next post will be about campus...]

QUEST FOR WORDS (#AtoZChallenge)

[My theme is 'My College Diary', where I'll be posting fictions inspired from my life. This will be a serial story. So here is my story...]

Read my previous post here

I'm a girl with many flaws. But nobody is perfect, right? I need a little attention from my friends and my parents. I need a hug everyday. I need to know every talk; some I guess, some I heard and some remain ignorant of me. Sometimes I make friends my priority, but sometimes they make me an option, which I think so. Because I'm like that, a little possessive of my friends.

I try to understand their situation first but fail to express my emotion. I try to make them happy, but I'm not always happy inside. I love to find happiness in small things, but that won't always work for me. I'm become shy whenever someone compliments me. I have my shy side as well as bold side. I'm not FAKE, but I have a little problem in 'open up'. I'm an introvert person.

Source: Google Images

I love people around me and I really care for them. I don't know if my friends have understood me or not. That doesn't matter to me, but what matters is I'm going to miss them...

Sometimes words and sometimes emotions fail me. I have enjoyed my four years of B.tech life completely and finally I found my quest for words to describe myself...

[P.S.- Well, my upcoming posts will be about my fourth year. Today was my last day in college and I was a bit emotional. So I write this post.]

PERKS OF A HABITUATED SITUATIONS (#AtoZChallenge)

[My theme is 'My College Diary', where I'll be posting fictions inspired from my life. This will be a serial story. So here is my story...]

Read my previous post here.

Our 'Killer lecturer' returned with a new subject on 6th semester. At first we all were shocked, but slowly we had accepted him. That time we tried to maintain silence in the classroom. And our classes with him went better than the previous year. Either he was becoming matured or we were, but I preferred the second one.

That time Pakshy introduced me to blogger world. I remember she told me that first you need to post for yourself, then eventually you'll think about others. I started my blogging journey on January 2014. Then I fall for blogging and continuing it till now.

That time the killer lecturer gave me 10 out of 30 in his subject. Our class's average was 8. So I think he pre-planned that so that he won't give any extra marks. We all were habituated already, so that time we ignored his tortures.

I realized the perks of a habituated situation during our 6th semester...

ONENESS IN ALL OF US (#AtoZChallenge)

[My theme is 'My College Diary', where I'll be posting fictions inspired from my life. This will be a serial story. So here is my story...]

Read my previous post here

During 3rd year, our friend circle increased. Lisa, Raj, Sarat and Sourav joined our group and our group was called as 'Auto group'. I don't know properly when and why we were being called as 'Auto group'.

Our 5th semester went smoothly, at first I was unable to cope with new situations or new people. But eventually I started to form liking towards my new friends. Sarat is a funny guy, who loves to joke around. Lisa is our mama, who loves to wear lipstick. Raj is a serious and studious guy, my impression of him changed gradually. And Sourav loves to tell PJ.

We all were different from look and characters. But one thing was common, we all were bound by our friendship.

I pictured oneness in all of us...

NEVER GIVE UP (#AtoZChallenge)

[My theme is 'My College Diary', where I'll be posting fictions inspired from my life. This will be a serial story. So here is my story...]

Read my previous post here.

My summer vacation was not that great. I made some mistakes, which I think so. Not every chapter of life is great. We had some agonizing moments. 'Fight' is a common thing for friends, but for me it's a horrible thing.

My pessimism nature led me towards depression. I avoided to eat properly and my insecurities grew further. Mama started to worry about me. At that time I didn't know what  to do. I knew that I want my friends back. I thought why don't they understand me. I'm not such complex person, maybe I'm sometimes.

During those times I found a stranger in me. Every night I cried silently holding my teddy tight against me. The frequency of phone calls from my friends had lessen and like this my summer vacation finished.

On the opening day of our 3rd year, we all hugged smilingly. But I knew that it'll take time to put things in its previous place. 'Never give up' was my mantra at that time. And not once I gave up on them.

Every chapter of a book is not great, but still we read it...

Book Links:
Goodreads I Amazon I Flipkart

MY THOUGHTS:

'Metro Diaries' is a collection of 20 beautiful love stories from Namrata aka Privy Trifles. The stories are affecting, magical and enriching. You can feel the aroma of love in every story. I like Namrata’s writing and I think it has engraved in my heart.

The characters are well developed in all the stories. I can connect with the characters. I love all the stories, but if I have to give a rank, then ‘You, Me and Love’ will come in first position and ‘A message of love’ will be in second position. Namrata is a promising author and I wish to read more from her.

I will give 5 out of 5 stars for the soulful stories and Namrata’s writing. I will recommend it to all romance genre lovers.

Random Fun Facts:

1. All the stories in the book are real. Name of places and people have been changed to maintain confidentiality.
2. Metro Diaries is a segment on my blog which consists of stories across genres though this book has only got the romance collection.
3. One of the characters in the book is me and NO I am not telling you which one ;) If you think you have the right answer do write to me and I will let you know how close or far you are.
4. All the stories in the book have not been "ended", they have been brought to conclusion in a manner that there can always be a next part to it and the story can go on with the same characters.
5. If observed closely you will notice the stories are not technically love stories where boy meets girl and they fall in love to live happily ever after for I believe love stories are also about what doesn't happen between the lovers.

MY FIRST 'GET OUT' (#AtoZChallenge)

[My theme is 'My College Diary', where I'll be posting fictions inspired from my life. This will be a serial story. So here is my story...]

Read my previous post here

The days passed by and we all promoted to 4th semester. In the month of February Muskan finally officially announced  that she is committed. Her friendship with Deepansh turned into love long ago, but that day they call it publicly.

For that occasion we five sat on a four seat capacity bench. The first class was DEC (Digital Electronic Circuit) and our teacher was busy in his K-map theory. Rosni and Anchal were talking about something and I had sat in between them. I tried to hear what they are talking, but someone's 'YOU' snapped me back. I noticed everyone is watching me including the teacher.

I looked innocently at the teacher. He pointed towards me, 'You, GET OUT OF MY CLASS' I was stunned to react to something. Did he just kick me out of the class. My friends were murmuring to say sorry, but I didn't feel like it. I made no mistake, then why should I say sorry. I obeyed the teacher and silently went out of class.

Five minutes later, Rosni came to inform me to come inside the class. I followed her and again, everybody's gaze was on me. I really hate attention, but later I came to know that my dearest friends had confessed, so sir allowed me in his class. Everyone were praising our friendship and I was overwhelmed by their act.

I know that they all care for me...

A MOMENT TO REMEMBER

I browsed the website of Snapdeal. I know his choice, because we both have the same choice in everything. ‘Should I ask mama’s opinion? No... What will I say to mama? That option won’t do.’ Some thoughts were battling in my mind. I had decided that I’ll give him a good yet memorable gift from the bottom of my heart. That gift should be a token of love. I stopped browsing and let the memories passed through my mind.

We both had gone for marketing, there we met Gupta uncle. Mr. G.P. Gupta lives in our neighborhood with his wife. He always took pride on his son, who works for an MNC and stays in Bangalore. I greeted Mr. Gupta. He smiled at me and started to blabber about his son again. He took out his new smart phone and showed it to us. After that, he commented, “it’s the latest one I had bought it last week.  But PC you don’t even have a smart phone, maybe you’ll not understand the features. I don’t understand are you not capable of buying or what?” I took offense to that comment. How can he say that to my...

“Apy, come here beta. I need your help” My mother’s voice brought me back to reality. “Yeah, coming mama.” After helping mama, again I lost in the website. Finally, I selected one, ordered for gift wrap, paid it and gave the address.

******

One afternoon, my parents and I sat on the sofa. When someone pressed the calling bell. Papa got up from his seat and went to respond. He came back with a parcel and confusion was written all over his face. “Someone sends me a parcel?” he said, sounding more of a question than a statement. He peeled off the wrapper to find a smart phone. He asked me, “What is this beta? Why did you buy it for me? Where did you take the money?”

“Papa, first sit down. I earned that money through blogging. And I feel like spending that money for you, that’s why...” I looked calm, quite and composite. “Beta, but I thought that you are saving that money for your new phone.” He looked concerned. “I was papa, but I changed my mind. Now I’ll earn more to buy a new phone for me. Let that topic go papa. Do you like the phone?”  He looked at me for several moments.

“I love it. I feel proud of you. I’ll show it to everyone saying my daughter has gifted me from her earnings.” He was radiated with pride. He hugged me. He smiled and I saw tears forming from his eyes. Those were the tears of joy. For me, that is a moment to remember. I was more than happy to see him happy.

This is my ‘Dil ki Deal story’. Actually, this isn't a story. It happened...

We were all so sad about our internal marks in EM. Rosni was laughing with tears in her eyes and telling everyone about her mark. We all were walking into an empty classroom with our head down. Rosni is a perfect example of extrovert personality. And sometimes I don't get her weird expressions. Anchal was staring at blank several times. She had already two back papers.

We all sat in an empty classroom and nobody was interested to eat tiffin. I opened my tiffin and started to gulp it, seeing me everyone started to eat their tiffins. Later that day our class decided to talk with Sir. I didn't understand why he cut our marks, he even cut our right answers. Our future was at stake.

After so much talking, finally he convinced to give us some bonus marks. In the last class of EM he announced, "DON"T THINK THIS IS THE END. I WILL COME BACK TO TORTURE YOU." This statement seemed a warning, but we ignored that.

Now also we talk about that subject and that teacher... Are not you curious to know if he tortured us or not???

ONE MORE ZENFONE!!!

Source: ASUS
Engineering students consider their phone as the precious property in the world and they care more for it than their text books. I’m also one of them. I have turned my phone into a text book. I depend on my phone from every aspect; phone calls, internet browsing, Whatsapp, listening music, video playing, reading novels, checking my mails,  blogging, playing different games, clicking selfies and photos.

Recently I was visiting the site of ASUS; there I found out that ASUS will soon launch its new smart phone ASUS Zenfone 2. After checking its features, I felt ASUS Zenfone 2 can redefine my smart phone experience. The reasons are :

ASUS Zenfone 2 has 64- Bit super quad core Intel Atom processor. That means multitasking will be a lot smoother and free of waiting. This phone will give you faster web surfing experience and buffer free gaming experience. Since I love to play games on phones, then this point is definitely a pro for me. This phone also has 60 ms touch responsiveness.

I love to capture any and every moment of my life. When I see a new phone, my first interest lies in its camera features. If the camera meets up to my expectation level, then I go for its other features. Zenfone 2 has 13MP primary (rear) camera, which has the capability of capturing high resolution photos. This phone can give 400% brighter photos at night. It has a 5 MP front camera for selfie lovers like me.

ASUS Zenfone 2 has a unique feature like ‘less time waiting and more time doing’. Let me clarify it, it means the phone has a capacity of charging the battery at a double speed. In today’s time no one likes to wait, so this feature is making the phone exclusive. The battery is juiced up to 60% within 39 minutes. It also avoids quick battery drain.

Zenfone 2 has a gorgeous design; it has a 5.5 inch large HD IPS screen with Gorilla glass. The model is available in 5 different colors; black, gold, red, white and gray. For me the phone has an elegant look and the available colors are complementing the phone's design. This phone got a trendy look and I would always go for a trendy look rather than classic look.

I love to download apps. This is the first phone having 4 GB RAM, which is a unique feature. It has 16 GB internal memory, which can be expandable up to 64 GB.

Apart from the above this phone has the latest version of Android (Lollipop) which promises simplicity in handling, 4G connectivity promises high technology, 3000 mAh battery capacity and an HD screen which promises a better picture quality. The phone's weight is only 170 g. ASUS symbolizes a promising brand. So with all these amazing features and look a person should definitely go for this phone.

KILLER LECTURER (#AtoZChallenge)

[My theme is 'My College Diary', where I'll be posting fictions inspired from my life. This will be a serial story. So here is my story...]

Read my previous post here.

During our 3rd semester, we had a subject called EM (Electronic Machine). We did our Mid-semester well in EM subject, but got the shocking news that our class's average was 4 out of 30. On our machine lab, he brought our test copies, he was surrounded by students. Rosni stood near the bundle of test copies and passed the copies to other students.

We were horrified to hear the result; most of the students had scored below 4. Rosni shouted, "Apy!!! You have passed the test." a smile formed on my face. Before I could ask my score, she said, "You have scored 5 out of 30." 15 is the pass mark out of 40 in our university, Though I had scored 10 out of 10 in attendance and assignment. So I had a pass mark.  My smile disappeared. Few minuted later, Rosni again shouted, "Apy, I've failed. I've 4. What should I do?" I looked at her with sympathetic eyes.

Pakshy cried happily due to her score 10 out of 30. Muskan and Rosni struggled for one mark, whereas Anchal stood silently scoring only 2 out of 30. We all were in a hopeless situation. I saw more zeros than numbers in my copy. Our sir loved to cut marks, I don't know why. He didn't listen to us once and after completing his job, he left the lab.

At that time we cried, but later we laughed at that memory. That was the lowest mark I scored till now...

To be continued...
